Paint Party Friday: Oil for our Torches

This is what I drew this morning
while waiting for a "phone patch"
interview about our business.
This is one of the virgins in the parable Jesus told
to the disciples in Matthew 25:1-13.
He said the Kingdom of Heaven could be compared
to the ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom.
Five of them were ready but five of them
did not bring oil for their torches.
What do you think happened?

Five of the maidens were ready to go with the bridegroom
when he arrived but the five foolish ones
had to leave to buy some oil
and were left outside.

This parable is about the end times
when Jesus will come again.
There are many who think the end is near.
Even the disciples were thinking the end was near
and that was 2000 years ago!
Even if the end is near or not,
one thing is sure!
Each one of us will die
and that is OUR end for us!!
Are we ready?
Are we prepared?
Do we have oil for our torches?

WOYWW: You Know Me!

I am stuck in bad with a cough that sounds
like the barking of a dog. :^(
And so my desk is my bed.
I did not wake up early,
I have not started any drawing
and my head is fuzzy wuzzy.
But WOYWW cannot be missed. :^)

This is what I drew yesterday
after I read from Psalm 139.
"O Lord, you have probed me,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I stand;
you understand my thoughts from afar.
My journeys and my rest; you scrutinize,
with all my ways you are familiar."

Yes God knows us better than we know ourselves!
He knows our idiosyncracies, our faults and failures,
our weaknesses, but He also knows our gifts,
our strengths, our potential.
He knows our capabilities and like
a mother eagle who teaches her young how to fly
when it is time, so does our God
allow us to endure challenges for a good purpose.
Ultimately, it boils down to TRUST.

I Believe in Miracles!

Jesus accused the Pharisees of many things,
but this is the worst!
"You lock the Kingdom of Heaven
 before human beings.
You do not enter yourselves,
nor do you allow entrance."
Matthew 23:13

This seems to be related to verse
Matthew 18:18:
"Whatever you bind on earth
will be bound in heaven,
and whatever you loose on earth
will be loosed in heaven."

Sometimes we can be judgmental,
self righteous, overly critical of people.
God's most important commandments
were about LOVE.
Are we shutting the door of heaven to others
by confessing that they are
"beyond hope", "an ingrate",
"too selfish and ungrateful",
"holier than thou", "an unbeliever",
"beyond salvation"?
I have to confess that sometimes
I say these things of corrupt politicians or
a wayward celebrities!

We have to believe in miracles,
not just for ourselves but for others as well!
NOTHING, absolutely nothing
is impossible for God!

Let us instead pray for those we think
are far from God,
let us open the door of heaven for them!

Nathanael judged Jesus before he even met Jesus,
"Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" he asked.
We can be like Nathanael (or Bartholomew),
and discriminate against others
because of their race, their family, their religion,
the way they speak, etc

Let's NOT!
Let us be always hopeful that people CAN
and WILL change.
